This page would look a lot better if you were using a modern, CSS compliant browser such as Firefox.
This icon is a way for you to access our RSS feed. RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary," depending on who you talk to. Sometimes it is referred to as a "webfeed." RSS is a way to provide short summaries of news items, announce new products or services, or summarize a web site's content. You could think about is as a kind of newsletter. If you frequent a news site such as CNN or the BBC then you are probably familiar with it. RSS is based on XML and is supported by most modern web browsers such as Firefox, Internet Explorer 7, or Safari. In addition to viewing a RSS feed, it is also possible to subscribe and thus receive updates as they are posted. This can be done either through a browser or in a separate feed aggregator. You can learn more about RSS at Software Garden or there is always the venerable Wikipedia.
We will be using our RSS feed as a way to update you on the varieties that we are currently picking, the produce we have, and any special events. We will try to update it at least once a week during the season and less frequently in the off-season. This is a new technology for us, so if you are having problems or have any questions please let us know at info@mainelyapples.com or contact the web site person directly at mjolsen@mac.com. Also, if you have any suggestions to improve any part of the site or if you have content that you would like to see added, please let us know. We would love to hear from you.
