Finishing touches
The exterior of our addition is complete. The first photo shows the painting in process, and the second one shows the painting done.
The interior is almost done as well, just a little more work to do. Looks a lot different, doesn't it?
Joined up
The roof is on and the siding is done. At this point, from the outside at least, only the color difference gives away the fact that our farm stand has doubled in size.
Coming together
As you can see from the photo below the addition is being seamlessly joined onto our existing farm stand.
The next two photos are of J.P. of Davis Builders nailing the roof down in preparation for shingles.
These last two are from within the addition looking out, first to the front and then to the back.
Adding up
Here are a few photos of Davis Builders working in the rain to put up the overhead floor joists for the new addition. The man in the first photo is Elmer; he is directing the well-done construction project. In the second photo you'll notice that he is also adept with ladders. The third photo gives you a better sense of the entire project.
Another addition update
Today (Monday, May 17) Davis Builders of Dixmont put up the walls for our farmstand addition. See two views below.
Addition update
Things are progressing on our farmstand addition. Below is a picture of Kurt Davis of Davis Builders getting ready to power trowel the new concrete slab for the addition. Next week we should be getting the walls up.
Addition
We here at Maine-ly Apples have some exciting news to share. We are expanding our farm store to twice its current size. It is because of our ever-expanding customer base that we decided it was time to enlarge our store. We are planning to have the new addition completed for the fall 2010 season, and we hope to offer a greater variety of local Maine made products for you to enjoy.
We are now in phase one of construction process, and here is a picture of Derek Larrabee of Knox in front of his Grandfather Clayton's bulldozer (notice that the orchard is starting to bloom behind him).
The Larrabees did an excellent job with the gravel installation. The next step will be for the concrete pad to be poured, and then the framing and sheathing. Check back to see our progress in the coming weeks.
